Industrial Oxygen Pipeline Compression

High-Pressure Oxygen
Booster Compressor
30 bar · 4 to 100 m³/min

The standard pressure for oxygen pipelines in steel mills, glass furnaces and chemical plants is 3.0 MPa. This range covers everything from a single EAF at 4 m³/min to a full integrated steelworks complex at 100 m³/min — from 380V skid-mounted units to 6/10kV EPC packages.

Engineering Configuration

Two Configuration Families — Different Engineering Conditions

Both families share the same 3.0 MPa outlet. The split point is not just capacity — it is power supply, site foundation type and procurement route. Identify your constraints first, then select a model.

Requires high-voltage power supply and dedicated reinforced concrete foundations. DW series (2-column, 13–17 t) covers 33–70 m³/min; 4MW series (4-column opposed, 26–36.5 t) covers 80–100 m³/min with significantly lower foundation vibration. Routinely procured via EPC data sheet against API 618. Full documentation package available.

What Both Share

Every model in this range — from ZW-4/30 to 4MW-100/30 — delivers 3.0 MPa outlet, is designed to API 618, and is factory performance-tested before shipment. All models accept atmospheric inlet (standard ASU or PSA output). The single special case is DW-35/0.45~32 which takes 0.843 MPa inlet for secondary boosting.

Applications

Three Industries That Run on 30 bar Oxygen

Ever Power compressor assembly for steel plant BOF converter oxygen system
Steel & Metallurgy

BOF converter steelmaking blows oxygen into molten iron at high flow rates and sustained pressure. A 120-tonne BOF typically consumes 12–20 m³/min of oxygen during the blow cycle; a multi-converter steelworks with continuous operation may need 50–100 m³/min total. Blast furnace oxygen enrichment runs lower flow at 2–8 bar and is served by the 2–8 bar low-pressure oxygen compressors; the 30 bar range feeds the converter oxygen lances and distribution headers.

LW-17/30 to 4MW-100/30 17–100 m³/min
Glass Manufacturing

Oxy-fuel combustion replaces air with near-pure oxygen in glass furnace burners — raising flame temperature, cutting fuel consumption 20–30% and reducing NOx over 80%. Working pressure at the burner manifold is typically 2–4 bar, but the main oxygen distribution header from the compressor runs at 3.0 MPa to maintain margin across the piping system. B1 models cover single and multi-tank furnace lines.

ZW-4/30 to LW-20/30  ·  4–20 m³/min
Chemical & Petrochemical

Partial oxidation (POX) syngas production, ethylene oxy-chlorination and other high-pressure oxidation reactors require oxygen at 2–4 MPa against precise process data sheets. EPC contractors specify these units to API 618, requiring full documentation: IOM manuals, material certificates, performance test records and SIL-rated interlocks. B2 DW and 4MW series are routinely procured this way.

FAQ

Common Questions

What inlet pressure do these high-pressure oxygen boosters accept?+

Standard inlet is atmospheric (approximately 0.1 MPa abs), directly compatible with ASU and PSA output. The exception is DW-35/0.45~32 which accepts 0.843 MPa inlet — designed for secondary boosting where there is already a medium-pressure oxygen line on site. If your ASU outputs at elevated pressure, tell us the inlet figure and we will verify stage ratios.

DW vs 4MW — which should I specify?+

DW is a two-column layout and covers 33–70 m³/min. 4MW is a four-column opposed layout from 80 m³/min upward. The opposed design cancels piston forces between opposing cylinders, dramatically reducing vibration to the foundation. If your site is sensitive to vibration — near precision equipment, inside a building, or on a soft foundation — the 4MW is the better choice even where a DW would technically fit the capacity requirement.

Can B1 models run on VFD for variable oxygen demand?+

Yes, all B1 models up to 240 kW are VFD compatible, giving continuous flow adjustment between roughly 40% and 100% of rated capacity. This is useful for glass furnaces that reduce fire intensity during transition periods, or for EAF shops where the oxygen blow schedule varies by heat. Specify VFD requirement when ordering so we can confirm the motor and drive train configuration.

What foundation information do you provide for B2 machines?+

We supply a dynamic load data package: piston forces, first- and second-order unbalanced moments, recommended anchor bolt layout and vibration isolation specifications. This is sufficient for your civil engineer to design the foundation. 4MW opposed machines have substantially lower unbalanced forces than an equivalent-capacity DW, which usually means a lighter, less expensive foundation block.

Can you supply a complete skid package against an EPC data sheet?+

Yes. Skid-mounted packages include compressor, motor, inter-stage coolers and separators, inter-connecting piping, instrumentation, safety valves and PLC control panel — factory assembled, pressure-tested and performance-run before shipping. We supply the full documentation package for EPC procurement including IOM manual, performance test certificate and material certificates. ATEX explosion-proof configurations available. Send us your data sheet and we will return a detailed proposal.
